Let's Just be Honest

Now I am not one to share my dirty laundry with everyone, however, I am growing more entertained with the idea of sharing the military culture with the civilian world and with that comes the sharing of our inner workings--even the stuff that makes me look not so pretty. So let's just be honest before I launch into the "delightful" stuff.

Mr. J. (I think writing his name with a surname is totally appropriate for this post, I may even shorten it and just call him Mr.) Mr. came home for 15 days and yes 11 of those days were bliss. As for the other 4, lets just be honest, I could have done without.

What happens when you put a soldier and a wife back together for only a short period of time...honestly? well for starters I start referring to my husband as Mr. because that is how he comes across, and in his defense I should probably refer to myself as Mrs. because that is how I come across. No need for names only titles that give us power.

The truth is a power struggle erupts as soon as the tears of joy cease, which is usually about the time we are exiting the airport. This time it was a bit different, as we were in each others dueling company, and getting on the road I started into labor. This was a fun twist to the already lovely experience.

I saw all the brake lights and cars at a complete stand still on I-15. The freeway that we were suppose to be getting on while I was contracting. Absolutely not. I was not getting on that freeway. Now typically I know that telling my soldier husband what to do is something I hold off on. This situation was not typical... I told him what to do. Now typically Mr. knows that he needs to be sympathetic, even if fake, to his overworked wife. Again, this was not typical. He looked at me, didn't say a word and pulled onto the freeway. Welcome home hubby.

Luckily for Mr. I didn't have a baby on the freeway; and luckily there was a construction worker get away route off the side of the freeway; and luckily Mr. is willing to do illegal things when it comes to getting his wife off the road and out of traffic; and luckily military families get 2 week vacations that usually equates to 11 days of marital bliss and harmony.
