I fully embrace my lack of wittiness when it comes to writing on this blog. I do it to stay in touch and know my talent is not in wooing the crowds. I do, however, try to stay away from the blantly obvious boring, that is until tonight. My topic is, well, boring. I don't know what is driving me to even write about it, but appearantly something is because here I am.
I have been mourning breads and baked goods (that is it, that is my topic, I know--terribly boring) Since we found out Ms. B has celiac's disease I have been doing what a good mama does. I make gluten free foods that we all can eat. There hasn't been a huge void in my life, until the weather started to change and the leaves have started to turn. I want so bad to nestle down and bake yummy homemade breads and cookies. I want to eat it with our gluten free/ dairy free (Ms. G is lactose intolerant) dinners. I want to wake up in the morning to a thick slice of hazelnut grain bread with a thick layer of butter and homemade jam. I want to eat 14 million double chocolate chip cookies with carmel as I sit and feel the chill in the air. I love you gluten. I love lots of you. I am sorry I can not indulge and become comforted by you any longer.
I did find comfort tonight by deciding I was making a meal for me and not cater to my children's tastes and likes and needs and desires. And wouldn't you know the ladies gobbled it up, the stars were aligned I am telling you. Baked speghetti squash with homemade tomato sauce--thank you farmers market for supplying the goods, steamed spinach, rosemary potatos and quinoa with chopped pecans. It did make me feel better, although, in my heart I did hope a glutenous piece of something would find it's way to my door step.

9/11 Remembered
What a humbling day today is. I spoke with Jeremy a couple of hours ago. In the course of our conversation I heard 2 rockets and returned fire in the back ground. We spoke about the fear that American Soldier face daily. The speech delivered to the soldiers in remembrance of September 11, in a nutshell was, most American's have had the privilege of having the fear and terror of that day be a distant memory. That is because members of our Armed Forces have met the fight outside of our country. The threat is still so real, the terrorist tactics still being used, family members still not returning home. Our soldiers understand that fear daily, just as we did on September 11. How unfortunate it was that we experienced even that one day, but how blessed we are that it is not our daily lives. Our soldiers are fighting the fight away from our eyes and ears. Now, I am not preaching of political views here. I am, however, in deep appreciation for our Soldiers. I also have a great respect for those who lost loved ones in the attacks and in combat since that day.
To Jeremy--I thank you, not because I am your wife, but because I am an American that reaps the benefits of your service. I have the opportunity to see first hand your sacrifices in order to keep your family, friend and strangers from living in fear. You keep the threat away from your loved ones, even though that means your facing it constantly. I thank you for taking full responsibility as an American. I thank you for seeing a need and rising to the occasion instead of waiting for someone else to do the job for you. I thank you for being educated on what's going on in the world and speaking eloquently about it. I thank you for being a man of integrity and good character. I know your job is hard. I thank you for doing hard things.

I also thank you for being hot in your uniform.
