It was just that funny

It was around midnight last night. The house was dark the kiddos in bed. Jer motionless next to me. It was quiet. Until I thought of this. There I was the lone person awake trying to silence my bouts of laughter and it was all in the name of Jazzercise.

Weekend FFFun

We escaped this weekend's heat by hiking in Point Lobos State Park. It was nice to hide below the forests shelter. Ms. B however did not like the idea and quite honestly doesn't have the same appreciation for the outdoors as her parents. Through the duration of the hike she proceeded to dry heave and gag. She claimed she was forest sick and we needed to leave immediately.

mud pits and sweaty soldiers

Here is Jer doing a 10 miler. The Army has to spruce it up a bit by adding mud pits and stations were the runners would stop every few miles for flutter kicks and other types of exercises. Jeremy did run it in cut of jeans, yeah cut off jeans.

I am glad to see Jer taking the necessary safety precaution of a nose plug

The water was dangerously deep.

what's in a name?

I am contending with the idea of blogging and children. It's true, I am the safety safe mother. When danger looms I grab my kids and head to the safety safe locking the door behind us. There I can be my over protective neurotic self. I shuttle my children safely under my wing and we sing songs of happiness and sunshine and wait for the eminent danger to subside. What danger, you ask? well anything really, it runs the gamut from scary people that wave hi to my ladies to scary dogs that are too big and run too fast. So this need of a safety safe has left me in a predicament. I want to leave my ladies protected inside, while still being able to blog about them. I am not comfortable giving out there names and ages, and dentists and foot sizes. so what should I do? I have thought about this. I could do the usual first letter of their name idea, but frankly, I don't like it. It stops the flow of a sentence. I find myself pausing every time I read a sentence with out-of- place letters. so that is a no go. I have been thinking about just using their nicknames, that's easy, but I am not sure how much I like that idea either. Perhaps I will live my childhood dreams through them and give them the names I wanted as a child.I would like to introduce to you my children...Shasta and Rainbow Bright, Rainbow for short. I wanted to be named Shasta so fiercely that I held a grudge toward my mother through ages 4 and 5. I knew I would have been destined for stardom and greatness if only my name was Shasta. It helped that my initials were S.H.A. that's half of it anyway. And when my friends and I would fight over the brilliant name, I would pull the initial card out...WINNER! I was always Shasta. So perhaps it's not appropriate to give my children my un-lived identity. They should have their own I guess. I think I will just do the simply...Ms. B and Ms. G. I like simple. So here is a picture of our family with them taking it upon themselves to conceal their own identities (shh, it's actually because they are superheroes).

and the good days continue

Today was filled with words of encouragement, love and guidance. I love conference weekend. Jer and I huddled around our computer as we downloaded the messages. Ms. B and I went to the beach for lunch between sessions and then spent some time with friends at a post-conference BBQ.

Days like this I love

I have been waiting to get some pictures from our camera to write our first "official" post since we have returned into the world of Blog. I was waiting, I wanted it to be a little better than bland. You know a post that says, "no we are not lame, we are totally capable of doing this technology thing." And further more to send a message that we will not fail again. I don't have my pictures, but I loved today. So out of my pure appreciation for it, it gets my first post.

Saturdays are usually the days the entire family gets to sleep in. I usually love this, our ladies crawl into our bed and we just lounge for a bit. Today Jer and I woke earlier and got to spend some time together with the house quiet. We were able to set the day in a forward motion before it was even ready to start. I made buckwheat crepes with raspberries and while in the kitchen I listened to my book on c.d. about the history of Ethiopia, HIV and AIDS. I love when my minds gears start to roll, especiallly in these types of topics. I was happy. I then set up a little mini office for Ms. B to work side by side with dad as he studied his stuff. She was so proud she felt so important, especially when Jer would write words on her paper and she would try to copy the symbols. By the end of it she could write her name in Arabic. As they were busily at work and my little one down for her nap. I went to the grocery store...alone! I was there right at opening to avoid crowds. It opens at 9:00, which I haven't figured out why so late, but I was there ready for my solo flight. I got home and the rest of the fam. was ready to walk to the non-denominational chapel for a little Easter celebrating, with crafts and games. We walked home and the weather was so warm. Ms. B and I went to Micheals for some 3-D craftiness. I love watching her at these little workshops. She understands so clearly what she wants to accomplish. We were there for quiet awhile which made us tired, well me, came home took a nap. I love naps. I woke up just in time for Jer to head to a church meeting. Me and my ladies took blankets in the backyard and played and read and dug and ate(well my little one did), she ate I am sure, all sorts of "natural" things. I love to sit out in the sun and read. I don't know where this came from, but I did it when I was young. Instead of picking up my book when I have down time and reading, you can usually find me hauling my ladies somewhere into the the sunshine so I can get comfortable and read. I am reading some great books right now so that makes it even better. We then ate dinner with locally grown strawberries my neighbor had picked up at a farmers market earlier in the day for dessert. And then right before bed Ms. B and I watched Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, possible one of my favorite movies. It is rare that we get to relax and watch a movie together, it's rare that I watch a movie at all so it was nice.

Today was one of those days that everything aligned, everything went with the grain instead of against. I enjoy my kids so very much but today they were a little sugar coated. In today's events only a few were out of the ordinary for us, but everything just moved into place flawlessly.
