Food 101

I love food almost as much as I love Oprah. I would like to say I have a pretty good relationship with both of them. When the two combined yesterday I was in heaven. My really good friend Oprah did a very good job at tactfully representing all sides of the food chain and pyramid.

weight...wait

Things that will help me lose my baby weight: exercising religiously every week.
Things that will not: eating an entire pan of lasagna before doing so.

Thank you

Thank you Cuisinart for making your pro classic food processor. One would think for someone that spends lots of time chopping up of veggies and fruits this would have been an investment 100 years ago. My mother-in-law gave it to me for Christmas. I used it for the first time today. I chopped an eggplant, 2 portobello mushrooms, 12 white mushrooms, and 4 tomatoes in, I think, 3 seconds. In addition, Ms. B thinks it is so cool that she runs it. I am happy you have finally made it into my life. I think I love you.

The phenomenon is real.

I am here as a testimonal that the " The Secret" craze a few years back was not a craze at all. It is real. You know, put out to the universe your desires, your deepest darkests and it will manifest. Alright here is the proof. I said to the universe via a blog that I would be working on 5-10 comebacks for socially awkward moments this week. Well today I was watching Studio 5 while I was feeding my boy. There was an entire segment dedicated to comebacks. That is right, it was advertised as 6 comebacks that you will want to have in your back pocket to thwart any socially awkward moment...thank you universe. The Secret delievered. So I listened and didn't write them on my hand as previously planned. I did just as I was told. I put them in my back pocket. Let's try them out.

Is your husband alive? That is a good question to ask him/her (in my case it is a him).

I sent him an email a week ago and he hasn't replied so I was just wondering if he was alive? Let me get back to you on that.

You know what they say about the military, they are either deployed or dead. You know, that is just not going to work for me.

oh, I also think this one will work as well.
You know what they say about the military, they are either deployed or dead. You know we can think different things and still be friends.

pretty pretty good if you ask me.

I think next week I will be working on getting myself to Fiji. Universe are you listening?

open mouth insert foot

In January my church changed to 1 o'clock. I can actually attend. I can get my kids, clean, fed and dressed. I can pump, get dressed, and then get dressed again due to spit up or Peanut butter and Jelly or paint and still arrive on time. So I have been twice in January last week and today. Here is the open mouth insert foot part. Last week the comment I got from an individual was, "you know what they say about the military, 'they are either deployed or dead.'" That is right, that is a direct quote. This week the comment I got from an individual was "so is your husband alive?" pause, "you know I sent him an email a week ago and haven't heard back from him, so I was just wondering if he was alive." And no, this was not someone that pulled me into a private space and sincerly was asking about the well-being of Jer. He was loud and very public and almost irritated that he hadn't heard from him.

I think I might become a shut-in.

I have to admit, last week I did laugh a little bit not because the joke was funny, but because I was almost embarrassed for the guy. And this week I have to admit, I shed a little tear because as any military spouse can relate sometimes the answer is--I don't know.

ok I won't become a shut-in, but I think this week I am going to come up with 5-10 comebacks for socially awkward moments and write them on my hand before walking out the door for church.

To my wonderfully talented friend

My dear friend Ashley has amazing talent for capturing moments. In fact, she has been the one to capture tons of moments in our lives through out the last 4 years. She and her husband were there on our wedding day. She took pictures in the middle of Jer's first deployment, when Jer got sent home to help me through a surgery that was pretty unsettling. There was my Ashley to make sure memories were made. Once again she took her precious time to capture our boy's first days and days with our daddy home. She is hugely talented and her heart is even bigger. We are blessed by their friendship. Thank you Thank you.Much love...

A break in tradition

This is Jer and me bringing in 2009. We have found that snow shoeing is the perfect activity for New Years. It is quiet and peaceful it goes along well with the birth of a new year. I always find January 1st an almost sacred day,the newness, the beginning. I love it. Again, snow shoeing fits in well and it gets the heart rate up after all those holiday feasts. Sort of cleanses the body and jump starts you back to healthy living.

I had made plans to bring 2010 in the same exact way and then my mom called. My mom loves to clean probably the same amount that I love to do outdoor activities. There I was on the phone telling my mom about my big day plans. She listened. She then explained to me that that was actually not what I was going to be doing and that she was coming over and we were going to clean and organize my house for the entire day. She explained how it would be so nice to organize our new Christmas gifts and do laundry and welcome the new year in with cleanliness and order. Seriously? I am all about a clean house, but spring cleaning on New Years? Anyone that knows me knows the super clean and organized gene skipped me in fact the totally domestic gene, all together, I am void of. I will admit I would rather be out playing in the dirt than decorating a house. But still I agreed. And so that is what happened my super energetic mother showed up with high hopes early this morning and we cleaned and we organized all day. Truth be told I feel great. I really loved what we got done today and it really is nice to begin a new year being organized and shiny. I think I may adopt this as my new tradition. Ha Ha, just kidding, no way...mountains I will see you soon. And thanks to you mom for sharing your talent.
